HOW TO USE

Size
- Determine the size of your plant and calculate the area the plant occupies.
- Measure the area under the plant - to the outermost leaves or the dripline.
- Multiply the length (dripline to dripline) by the width (dripline to dripline) to get the area in square meters (mª). This is the root zone of the plant where fertilizer is required.
Amount
- Measure the amount of fertilizer for the size of your plant. (NOTE: 1 large handful is about 50 grams.)
  - Small plant (25-50 cm tall) 50 g/m2
  - Medium plant (50 cm-1 m) 100 g/m2
  - Large plant (1-2 m) 150 g/m2
Feed
- Apply the specified amount of fertilizer in a circle around each plant starting about 30 cm (12') from the stem.
- Work fertilizer into the soil, taking care not to disturb the roots. Water well.
Tips
- Sun tolerance differs by species and varieties. Ideal location is some sun with filtered shade of tall trees.
- Plants are shallow rooted and should not be cultivated. Use mulches to control weeds, conserve moisture and keep the soil surface cool, (especially in the summer).
- These acid-loving plants prefer a porous, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter (such as peat moss).
- For new plants or bushes, dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, and refill below and around the plant with peat moss or soil conditioner. Be sure to plant with the top of the root ball slightly above soil level. Firm peat moss around the roots, cover with soil and water well.
